On the morning of May 26, 2018, a Sino-American communication event was kicked off in our Student Work Center. Over 70 members participated in the activities, including staff from Foreign Affairs Office, the musicians of Grace University Band, students from Humber ELC and volunteers from School of International Communication.

The event started at 9 o’clock with passionate music of Chinese Style (中国范儿). Miss Lv from Foreign Affairs Office gave a warm welcome speech and wished everyone would have a great time. Students from SXTBU and Grace University Band made pairs by matching the words respectively in English and Chinese on cards and then divided into three teams according to the colors of the cards.

Three-Legged Race (两人三足)

The first activity was “Three-Legged Race” and it has seen amazing unity between students from SXTBU and Grace. After this, three teams were led respectively by the team leaders to practice their programs. The Student Work Center was filled with laughter and vitality – some of participants were learning Chinese Taichi, some were practicing Chinese folk song Jasmine, and others were studying the popular Seaweed Dance.   In half an hour, all three teams got on the stage to present their performances. The melodious Jasmine singing was full of Chinese flavor and Taichi performance, combined with modern music and dancing, brought the activity to a climax. After the performances, a student representative of Humber ELC gave a short speech to thank ELC for organizing this event from which she has learned a lot and experienced the charm of Sino-American cultural blending. Members from Grace University Band also delivered their appreciation for our hospitality and expectations for more mutual communication.
